AgMedica Bioscience Inc. engaged us to provide strategic marketing and branding services to help build their recreational and medicinal cannabis brands post-legalization in the Canadian market. We developed a portfolio architecture: defining the business objectives & roles for each of their brands, acquisitions & innovations and created a branding framework. From this foundation, we developed brand identities for their product brands with a visual identity system that allowed each brand to have its own persona, yet with a clear connection back to the Masterbrand.

Using the brand strategy as our anchor, the creative expression of the Agmedica family of brands was strong and bold, yet flexible enough to travel through the portfolio. Each sub-brand is distinctive, yet shares a common DNA that connects them all.
The design styles were connected through 2 parts of the iconography: the cannabis leaf, and the function each sub-brand was positioned in. Each sub-brand could be uniquely represented in the recreational, functional foods and cosmetic categories, yet still look connected to the AgMedica masterbrand.
Our messaging strategy was organized and prioritized around the key behaviours of their distinct audiences. The thread of steel was our common approach to the late adopter who was entering the cannabis category for the first time. Our focus therefore was on education and awareness to trust AgMedica’s brands over the others.
This projects’ UX brought together solving business objectives, a delightful user experience, and engaging aesthetics that speak to the target audience.
